Third Mainland Bridge closure

The Third Mainland Bridge is set to undergo a planned total closure, as announced by the Federal Ministry of Works. The Federal Controller of Works, Lagos State, Olukorede Kesha, revealed in a statement on Monday that the closure would be effective from 12 noon on Wednesday, February 28, to 12 noon on Thursday, February 29, 2024.

The statement emphasized that the closure is part of the ongoing rehabilitation works on the Third Mainland Bridge. Both carriageways of the bridge will be inaccessible to traffic during this period to facilitate the execution of a significant phase of the ongoing repair works. The Federal Ministry of Works urged the motoring public to take note of this development and plan alternative routes for their journeys.

During the critical 24-hour period, the bridge will remain closed to traffic, and all road users are advised to seek alternative routes. Motorists are encouraged to cooperate with the deployed traffic management officials to ensure smooth traffic flow and minimize discomfort throughout the closure.

Expressing gratitude for the public’s continued cooperation and understanding, Kesha conveyed regret for any inconveniences caused. The closure is a necessary step to expedite the repair works and enhance the overall safety and functionality of the Third Mainland Bridge.
